Worcestershire-based company, myAPPetite, was awarded the ‘Best Custom Digital Food Ordering System’ in the West Midlands thanks to their continued success and their commitment to customers throughout the global pandemic.

They were awarded the accolade following on from their recent nomination in the 2021 Midlands Enterprise Awards.

During the pandemic, many hospitality businesses were forced to close and when allowed to re-open, they had various restrictions in place. Local company,

myAPPetite, who specialise in designing custom branded apps for businesses and installing table ordering functionality, helped numerous venues stay open as their ordering solution allowed businesses to be COVID-compliant.

myAPPetite’s Managing Director, Andy Simmonds, commented: “It’s great to be presented this award, as the last two years have not only been unusual, but extremely testing at times and it was always our goal to go that extra step for our customers to remain open, so it’s great that our team’s hard-work has been recognised.

“Growing up in Bewdley, it’s been heart-breaking to see so many local businesses struggle with some having to close their doors during the pandemic. It’s felt great to be able to offer pubs, restaurants and takeaways a cost-effective product so they could re-open and ultimately be comfortable they were complying to Government restrictions, safe in the knowledge they were being COVID-compliant.

“It was also important to be able to help keep customers staff working in a safe environment and to allow them to feel comfortable within the workplace. With customers ordering and paying in the comfort of their own homes or at their table via the app or QR code it limits contact and allows staff to remain social distanced, while also not having to deal with cash.

“We were also aware many companies take a large commission off local businesses for each order placed. We felt it was in the interest of the businesses not to charge commission, to allow them to get the most out of their revenue, especially in these testing times where the hospitality industry has been hit hard.”

A spokesperson for The Midlands Enterprise Awards said: “This prestigious award marks the hard work and stellar efforts of those who have helped shape this demanding and dynamic region, and our comprehensive selection and judging process singles out the true market leaders over the past year.

“Our awards aim to be a thorough, robust representation of the ‘crème de la crème’ of businesses throughout the Midlands. As they say, ‘the cream rises to the top’ and when faced with the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought, this saying has never been truer.

We have assessed all nominees looking for those most deserving for their efforts within the last 12 months and this award symbolises the hard work, dedication and effort throughout the challenges faced in the midst of a global pandemic.”

It has certainly been a busy couple of years for myAPPetite, who are continuing to help numerous venues with their ordering solution. Company Director, Andy Simmonds, concluded: “There seems to be a real shift in how the hospitality industry accepts their orders, and even with the most relaxed restrictions we’re finding venues are still recognising their customers demand for an easier way to place their orders, either via their own app or online via a QR code.

“The hard work and commitment of our staff to help provide quality customer service in a testing time has been second to none. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all their hard work, as well as the judging panel at the Midlands Enterprise Awards for their recognition.”
